About us
How it all began
A collection, a farm, and a country life.
The collection

Every small business has a story worth sharing. My name is Donielle Hawley and after moving to the Hills several years ago, I started collecting beautiful vintage items to fill our antique farmhouse. The problem was (and still is) that I found and bought more things than I needed...so a small business was born.
I did not foresee the intense connection our family would cultivate with the farm and all of the creatures that live here (both domestic and wild). Thus inspired, it has become increasingly important to preserve our natural surroundings for generations to come. To that end, the collection has been mostly sourced second-hand, allowing others to enjoy the pieces many times over.
Sharing this collection with others is such a joy. The history of the pieces gives each event a rich family feel that is so special. We look forward to the opportunity to be part of your cherished memory.
Hart Hill Farm

Built by the Hart family in 1774, the farm sits where Litchfield, Goshen, Cornwall and Warren meet. A stream that once powered Hart Mill — makers of musical instruments — still runs through it, and the stables now hold one of the largest residential solar arrays in Connecticut. The Harts would be puzzled. We like to think pleased.
We keep a regenerative, organic farm: horses, chickens, pigs, and hay; an orchard of peaches, apples, cherries, plums and pears; and a kitchen garden that keeps us honest.
To host an intimate affair at the farm or talk about photo shoots, contact us — and find us at www.harthillfarm.com and follow us @litchfield.life.
Country life

Our family of five moved to the Litchfield Hills with a dream and, notably, no farming experience. It was thrilling and terrifying in roughly equal measure. We found our way through trial and error, patient neighbors, courage, and a little luck.
We love the wide-open space, the fresh air, the slower pace, and people who still wave.
Some days I miss Trader Joe's and Indian takeout — always the company of our dear old friends. But even with the workload, the life we've built here is a gift we never stop noticing.
